I’m happy to have helped it into the world and I’m so thrilled that Matt and the twins have broadened their overall audience, because all three of them are amazing talents. It’s incredibly honest and Uyen’s artwork captures that beautifully. However, his understated, negatively-lit, shadow-clad portraits tell you much in what they leave out–which, at times, includes facial detail, pupils, and enough light to not make the subjects of his art look suspicious or menacing. Aside from a flirtation with web comics during the graphic novel boom of the 00s, mainstream publishers have been more wary, with the odd exception: Jonathan Cape picked up the literary web comic Hark!

To maintain those ties, Diamond makes a wide range of distribution, sales, promotions, and marketing services available to non-comics suppliers, working closely with them to ensure that their products thrive in the lucrative comic book specialty market. Equally refreshing were comments from Image's Director of Business Development, Ron Richards. "There's something to be said for the ownership factor," Richards said.
